What drew you to OTTO Motors?
A friend of mine works at OTTO Motors and he always spoke about the growth opportunities and work-life balance OTTO Motors gives its employees. Another attraction to OTTO Motors is that the company creates cutting edge technology and develops products that are changing the way people work.

What differentiates OTTO Motors from other companies is the technology and the robots. OTTO Motors is making manufacturing safer, ensuring that employees get home to their families. The technology also allows people to work more efficiently and smarter.
What does a typical day as a Facilities Coordinator look like at OTTO Motors?
I start my day off by ensuring that employees have what they need to do their best work. This will often include checking to make sure supplies are in stock and coffee is flowing. I then assess potential hazards that need immediate attention and repair, look at any Office Administration tickets that may require close attention and work through those items. I arrange times for contractors to be onsite and ensure that they are completing upgrades and repairs as needed. No two days are ever the same, and often I am required to think outside the box and make quick decisions.
What’s the most satisfying part of your role?
The most satisfying part of my role is seeing the finished results of projects that allow our employees to do their best work. I enjoy seeing upgrades and repairs being used and loved by employees. I enjoy taking on rather challenging tasks at times and being able to come up with quick and safe solutions.
What do you look forward to when coming to work in the morning?
I look forward to seeing my colleagues. I take a lot of pride in seeing others happy and I want to make the workplace a more enjoyable environment and help build a great experience for all employees.
How did you get into Facilities Management?
My role was recommended to me by a friend as I have always wanted a job that challenged me in many different ways. I appreciate that OTTO Motors gave me this opportunity to put my skills to work.
What are the must-have skills or knowledge for this role?
For this role, you need to be adaptable, have great communication skills, be detail oriented, and have great time management skills. All of these are critical skills that you use on a daily basis.
What advice do you have for someone interested in applying to OTTO Motors?
I think that it is important to do your research on the company and be prepared when you interview. I loved OTTO’s products and their values really resonated with me. Be proud of your accomplishments and have the willingness to learn. Things are always changing at OTTO and you have to be willing to change and move just as fast.
Who is your favourite robot? And why?
My favourite robot comes from the 1999 film The Iron Giant. The Iron Giant is often compared to Lt. Commander Data and R2-D2, but just like R2-D2, The Iron Giant can not speak, but that is not the stark difference between them. The Iron Giant can love and, due to his willingness, this allows The Iron Giant to do something far beyond what his counterparts can, and allows The Iron Giant to go well beyond his limitations. You can say he's a hero and an inspiration especially to future animated robots.
