What drew you to OTTO Motors?

I come from a Logistics/Supply Chain background which was very labor intensive and now with the shortages in labor, I always wondered how this gap could be minimized. When I came across OTTO AMRs, I instantly knew I wanted to be a part of this change and work for a company with a mission I truly believe in.

What differentiates OTTO Motors from other companies?

OTTO Motors’ mission statement motivates me to push further each day. We are an amazing company with smart, dedicated and hardworking employees. Our mission to create safer, more productive and more fulfilling workplaces with autonomous technology really speaks for itself

What does your team do?

I am a People Team member which means our team works to support and provide guidance to all our Humans of OTTO whether you are a new hire or a tenured employee. From Recruitment, Onboarding, Employee Relations, Performance, Compensation, Training to Off-boarding, our aim is to ensure each employee has a smooth and a great experience during their employee life cycle at OTTO Motors.

What does a typical day as a People Operations Generalist look like at OTTO Motors?

A typical day for someone in my role varies from day to day. It can start anywhere from preparing for Payroll, leading Health and Safety initiatives, brainstorming ideas for social events, process improvements, gap analysis for Training needs and on-going support to our employees on policies, benefits, leaves of absence.

What’s the most satisfying part of your role?

The most satisfying part of my role is Payroll. Although it's not as easy as it may look, it gives me positive energy when our employees are happy and are paid on time.

What do you look forward to when coming to work in the morning?

My team is very knowledgeable, fun and great to work with. I look forward to collaborating with them everyday and brainstorming ideas to automate and improve processes which will be beneficial in the long run.

How did you get into Human Resources?

I was working as an Inside Sales Rep at a high volume call center back in 2013. My supervisor pushed me to apply for this Recruitment Coordinator role which was available internally, so I did and that’s how I got my first job in HR in 2014. My HR manager was very supportive which gave me an opportunity to learn, train and grow in the HR field. I gained valuable experience which I still apply in my day-day life at work.

Did you have any prior experience in Robotics?

No, I do not have any prior experience in Robotics but I am grateful to be a part of it now. It's fascinating to see the Robotic world from the inside as we have some talented Robot Builders in house. I am learning more and more everyday.

What are the must-have skills or knowledge for this role?

My two must have skills for this role are - problem solving skills and interpersonal skills.

It is important to think out of the box sometimes and come up with creative solutions. It’s good to have legislative knowledge and basic understanding of how things work in the HR world.
